Burnett completes outstanding season

CARY, October 27, 2006 – Sophomore Rashad Burnett was a part of what has to be an encouraging season for the Aggies track program – in particular the distance portion of the program.

Burnett finished ninth at the Cross Country MEAC Championships at SAS Park on Friday, leading the Aggie men to a fifth place finish.  Burnett ran a 26:41.8 as the men finished with 119 points. Kavaughn Brown  also placed in the top 15 , coming in 15^th with a time of 27:38.5.

The women finished 10^th with a score of 296. Burnett’s season comes to an end with three top 10 finishes out of the five races the Aggies have run this season, and he has never finished any lower than 24^th all season. Reggie McAfee finished 20^th and Jesse Fox finished 25^th to give the Aggie men four runners in the top 25. Norfolk State won the event with a score 25 as the Spartans placed four runners in the top 10.

Freshman Janee Cadlett was the Aggie women’s top finisher, placing 41^st. The Aggie runners will get a short break before beginning the indoor season on Dec. 2 at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.
