EIGHT AGGIES QUALIFY FOR REGIONAL

Bryon qualified for the regional in the 400 meters and 4x100 meter relay

 

GREENSBORO, N.C., April 24, 2005 Junior sprinter Justin Byron qualified for the NCAA East Regional in New York with a time of 46.9 seconds in the 400 meters. Brandon Via’s leap of 7.40 meters in the long jump last week also secured him a spot in the NCAA East Regional, which will be held in Randall Island, N.Y.

Last week at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., Christopher Walker leaped 6-10.75 in the high jump to qualify for the regional. The men’s 4x100 meter relay team of Antonio Lee, Eric Worthington, Robert Martin and Bryon also qualified.

On the women’s side, Tiffany Green qualified for the NCAA East Regional at the Aggie Relays in March. Teammate Caryle Decruise recently qualified in the 100 hurdles, however, as she qualified with a time of 13.89 seconds.

“The Sea Ray Relay meet was a breakout meet for us, and I am really pleased with how our program has progressed,’’ said director of track programs Roy “Spaceman” Thompson. “We look forward to the MEAC Outdoor Championships this week.”
