Aggies compete in the Texas Relays April 6-8 GREENSBORO, N.C. April 1, 2006 Courtney Clark is serious. She is serious about winning a few MEAC outdoor track titles and perhaps a spot in the NCAA East Regional and Nationals in California before her career is over. There is no denying that after the start the senior out of Norristown, Pa., is off to during the 2006 outdoor track and field season. Clark won the 400 meter hurdles for the third time in as many weeks, this time she did at the Charlotte Invitational at Charlotte University on Saturday. Clark ran the 400 meter hurdles in her fastest time of the season 1:00.14 as she beat out Andi Rose by more than a second. Clark won the same event two weeks ago at the Aggie Team Challenge, and again last week at the Aggie Relays. Clark was not the only Aggie showing consistency on Saturday. Lauren Taylor had another good outing in the 100 meter hurdles. She came in second with a time of 14.12, a tenth of a second faster than teammate Kendra Newton. Taylor has finished now lower than second in the 100 meter hurdles this season. Another back-to-back Aggie finish occurred in the 200 meters as Clark came in fourth (24.42) and Carmenta Mitchell finished fifth (24.60). On the mens side, Gordon Smith had second-place finish in the high jump. Smith won the high jump at the Aggie Team Challenge two weeks ago. Smith, who jumped 6-feet, 8.75 inches, is doing a nice job of filling in for high jump stand out Christopher Walker, who will not compete this season. Smith had a sixth-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. But it was not all about jumps and sprints for the Aggies on Saturday. Rashad Burnette placed 11th in the 1500 meters, while freshman Lonnie Phifer finished sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus.
