Earned a starting position for A&T as a shooting guard as a junior … …Provided the Aggies with a strong defensive presence after building off a solid sophomore season… Has 592 points, 263 rebounds, 129 assists and 83 steals in 93 career games…Has a .404 field goal percentage and a .558 free throw percentage…Named to the 2012 Fall Dean’s List…She is a two-time All-MEAC academic honoree and a three-time A&T Scholar Athlete…Earned the team’s defensive player award in 2013.

2013-14 Season: Played in 31 games with 28 starts … Averaged 8.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game … Was third on the team in 3-pointers (27) and steals (40) …Scored in double figures 10 times and led the Aggies in scoring three times …Recorded a career-high 18 points twice against Davidson on Nov. 21 and again on March 6 against Hampton  … Set a new career-high in rebounds with nine against Coppin on Jan. 27 and Savannah State on Mar. 1 … Played a career-high 39 minutes against UMES on Feb. 1 where she tallied 16 points … Dished out seven assists over Richmond … Finished with five steals on Dec. 7 against Va. Lynchburg.

2012-13 Season:  Played in 31 games with 23 starts…Averaged 6.3 points, 2.2 rebound per and  1.4 assists per game…Was sixth on the team in scoring with 195 points…Posted nine points against No. 18 Nebraska on Nov. 9…Scored 11 points with two assists against Howard on Jan. 19…Recorded a career-best 13 points against Morgan State on Jan. 26 and against S.C. State on March 2…Totaled a career-high six field goals in Jan. 26 game against Morgan State…Recorded four double-figure games …Recorded 17 points in two MEAC tournament games

2011-12 Season:  Played in 31 games with 10 starts…Averaged 4.3 points, 2.8 rebounds in 529 minutes played…Totaled 27 assists, three blocks and 26 steals…Had a .342 shooting percentage and a .489 percentage from the free throw line…Posted as season-best 11 points on Feb. 6 at Florida A&M, and had a season-high seven rebounds on Jan. 14 at Howard and on Feb. 4 at Bethune-Cookman…Played in a season-high 36 minutes on Feb. 4 in an overtime win at Bethune-Cookman…Led the team in assists three times, in steals four times and in blocks twice.

High School: Was a three-time Cape Fear Valley 3-A Conference Player of the Year and a two-time All-State selection…Averaged 23.6 points and 10 rebounds as a senior and averaged 27.3 points and 12.2 rebounds as a junior…Scored more than 1,750 points in her last three seasons…Helped lead her team to a pair of conference championship titles…Was ranked 80th in the state of North Carolina by MaxPreps.com…Was rated as the No. 35 shooting guard in the country by ESPN as a senior.

Personal: Full name is Ariel Bursey…She is the daughter of Ben and Michele Bursey…Has two siblings, Trinity and Ben, and was born on July 20, 1993…Majors in biology and is a member of the Dean’s List…Plans to pursue a career as a doctor specializing in pediatrics…Other interests include reading and drawing…Is involved with the Bethel Campus Fellowship…Spent the 2012 summer visiting family, training and attending summer school…Her favorite book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, and her favorite foods are shrimp, hush puppies and mac ‘n’ cheese…Her sister Trinity played basketball for the University of North Carolina under head coach Sylvia Hatchell from 2006-2010.
