20 Jax Kaye Woodard

Power hitter and dominant force at first base throughout her career…Made an immediate impact for the Aggies back in 2011 … Her presence in the lineup and ability to hit for power aided A&T tremendously … Was also a strong academic student and an All-MEAC selection during her career … Appeared in 149 games with a .268 career average to go along with 115 hits, 90 RBI 66 runs, 24 home runs, and 19 doubles.

2014 Season:  Played in 28 games with 24 starts…Hit. .284 and was second on the team in home runs (five) and RBI (23) … Recorded 21 hits, 12 runs, and three doubles … Finished with six multi-RBI games and five multi-hit games … Hit .345 in conference games and tallied a .793 slugging percentage … Posted a season-high four RBI against N.C. Central on May 4 when she hit her 24th career homer, a grand slam in her only at-bat of the game … Hit homers against Arkansas Pine Bluff on March 8, S.C. State on March 30, Florida A&M on April 5 and Savannah State on April 12 …Ended her career on a four-game hitting streak from May 3-8 which included six hits, five RBI, a home run, double, and two runs … Named to the MEAC All-Academic team.

2013 Season: Started in all 44 games …Hit .237 while leading the Aggies in home runs (seven) and RBI (28)… Was third in hits (31) and finished with 18 runs … Led A&T in multiple-RBI games with eight and finished with eight multi-hit games … Had her best performance of the season in a 11-10 win against UMES on Feb. 24 where she finished with three hits, two being homers and four RBI …Recorded doubles against Kent State on March 8, Norfolk State on March 13, FAMU on April 6, B-CU on April 21, and N.C. Central on May 4 … Tripled in a 6-0 win over Presbyterian on March 17.

2012 Season: Played in 39 games with 38 starts…Earned first-team All-MEAC honors and was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player…Finished the year with a .342 average with seven doubles, five home runs, 23 RBI and 20 runs scored…Posted a .975 fielding percentage… Led the team in batting average, on-base percentage… Had three hits against UMES on March 22…Had a pair of doubles against Grambling State on March 4 and finished the game with nine total bases…Went 4-for-5 with four RBI and a home run against Grambling State on March 4…Went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored on March 14 against Norfolk State…Recorded a single-game season high of 10 putouts against UMES on March 22 and against S.C. State on April 1…Went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored on March 22 against UMES…Went 3-for-4 with an RBI on April 7 at Florida A&M…Went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and two runs at Liberty on April 10 in Game 1…Went 3-for-4 in Game 2 at Liberty.

2011 Season:  Started in all 38 games…Batted .227 in three games, with four doubles, seven home runs, 16 RBI and 16 runs…Walked once and had 28 strikeouts…Was tied for fifth in the MEAC in home runs…Had back-to-back games with a season-high three RBI in a doubleheader against Savannah State on April 23…Posted a season-long nine-game hitting streak from April 3- 27…Hit a home run in three consecutive games from April 23-27…Collected a season-high two hits in six games…Had a least one RBI in seven consecutive games from April 5-April 27.   

High School: Woodard attended Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

Personal: Changed her name from Juanita Jernigan to Jax Kaye Woodard in September 2012…Her parents are Kaye Woodard and Danny Nixon…She has one sibling, Artreya Jernigan…She was born on Feb. 13, 1992 and majors in art education and looks forward to a teaching career…Other interests include painting and drawing…Spent the summer attending summer classes…Chose to come to A&T because she loved the campus and the people…Her favorite book is Down The Rabbit Hole, her favorite television show is “Adventure Time” and she enjoys all food…Says the best part of being an A&T student-athlete is that all of the athletes are like a family…Her goals this season are to be a great offensive player and to keep the team focused.
