Breakdown: Versatile athlete that played the majority of her career at third base… A good contact hitter, Jones struck out just 25 times in 405 career at-bats … Ended her career with a .274 batting average, 111 hits, 61 runs, 45 RBI, 17 doubles, and four home runs … Strong academic student-athlete who was named to three MEAC All-Academic teams…Also earned two National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Academic team honors…Earned second-team All-MEAC honors as a sophomore.

2014 Season: Started in all 31 games she appeared in during her senior season … Finished with 18 hits, 13 RBI and five doubles …. Posted five multi-hit games and three multi-RBI games … Had her best outing of the season against Arkansas Pine Bluff where she went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a season-high four RBI in a 10-7 win on March 8 …  Finished with two hits against UMES o(Feb. 22), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 27), S.C. State (March 30) and Florida A&M (April 5) … Scored two runs on four occasions …Hit .600 with bases loaded and advanced runners 31 times on 62 opportunities (.500) … Named to the MEAC All-Academic team.

2013 Season: Started in all 32 games she appeared in during her junior season … Was third on the team in batting (.311) …Tallied 28 hits, including a pair of doubles and eight RBI … Finished with 14 runs … Had her best outing in a 6-0 win against Presbyterian on March 17 where she was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI in Game 1 … In Game 2 against Presbyterian, Jones also recorded three hits and scored A&T’s only two runs … Went 2-for-4 with a double in a 6-4 loss to S.C. State on March 29 … Also recorded a double in a 9-4 setback against FAMU on April 6 … Hit .750 with bases loaded and .647 as a leadoff batter … Advanced runners 25 times out of 56 opportunities.

2012 Season: Started in all 50 appearances as a sophomore…Jones earned second-team All-MEAC honors…Ranked among the nation as the Toughest to Strike Out…Named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete…Posted a .329 average (50-for-152) with nine doubles, four home runs, 19 RBI and 27 runs scored…Had a .916 fielding percentage…Was second on the team in batting average, led the team in hits, doubles…Posted a single-game high eight assists against Bethune-Cookman on April 21…Went 3-for-4 with two RBI on Feb. 26 against Marist…Went 3-for-6 with a home run and four RBI on March 4 against Grambling…Went 3-for-4 with a home run on March 18 against Morgan State in Game 1…Went 3-for-3 with a run scored on March 20 against UNCG…Went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI on May 5 in Game 1 against N.C. Central…Went 3-for-4 with a run scored on May 11 against Savannah State…Named to the MEAC All-Academic team.

2011 Season:  As a freshman, Jones hit .238 (15x63) in 35 appearances, with a double, a triple, five RBI and seven runs...She walked four times and struck out four times...Had a season-high two RBI on Feb. 12 against Mississippi Valley State...Had a three-game hitting streak from May 1 to 7...Her best game was on May 7, when she went 3x4 with a double and an RBI in the first game of a doubleheader against Bethune-Cookman...Went 1x3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs on April 23 in Game 1 against Savannah State...On the mound, Jones finished 1-16 with a 9.06 ERA in 26 appearances...She tossed 97.1 innings, and allowed 126 earned runs on 165 hits with 82 walks and 25 strikeouts...She had eight complete games.

High School:  At St. Stephens, Jones made All-Conference, All-Regional, All-State and All-District honors from 2006 to 2010...She was also on a varsity honor roll student all four years...Also competed in volleyball as a freshman.

Personal: Full name is Tranea Rhontich Jones...She is the daughter of Yvonne Whitfield...She has four siblings, Travon Jones, Kyrawn Whitfield, Gary Whitfield, and Maravinn Brannon...She is majoring in Social Work...Her birthdate is Jan. 27, 1992...She was named an All-American National Fastpitch Scholar Athlete, and has made the Dean's List...Looks forward to a career as a social worker...Is a member of SAAC and NEA on campus...Competed in her last year of travel softball over the summer...Is looking forward to a winning season.
