GREENSBORO - Freshman
designated hitter Brandon Wilkerson of the North Carolina A&T baseball team
garnered MEAC Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in five games from
April 30-May 6. It's the second time
this season he has won the honor.
Wilkerson
(5-8, 175, Charlotte, N.C., Mallard Creek) finished the week with a .353
average (6-for-17) with a triple, three RBI and two runs scored. He went 5-for-7 with an RBI triple in a
doubleheader against Savannah State on Saturday, helping the Aggies to a pair
of wins. He went 3-for-4 with two hits
and two RBI in Game 1 of that twinbill.
Wilkerson
has been strong offensively for the Aggies this season. Wilkerson is fourth on the team with a .313
average and leads the team with five triples.
He has 19 RBI on the year as well.
He hit safely in six games from Feb. 24-March 24, batting .400
(8-for-20) with two triples, two walks, two RBI and two runs. He is currently on a three-game hitting
streak entering into Tuesday's contest at No. 17 N.C. State.
