GREENSBORO - It was the last chance for many athletes at Irwin Belk on
Sunday as the Aggies hosted their annual Aggie Classic outdoor meet at the
Irwin Belk track. This was the last meet before the men and women of North
Carolina A&T track and field travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to compete in the
NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, May 24-26.
Although
the Aggies only had a select few competing this weekend, the team performed
well overall.
The
only first place finishes for the Aggies came from Earl House, Darryl Williams,
Jarrell Elliott and Torrance Womack in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of
40.32.
Michael
Brown also earned first for the Aggies in the men's long jump with a distance
of 23feet, 7 ½ inches , a personal best. Not far behind Brown in the long jump
was Jared Baldwin, who earned second overall with a distance of 23-feet, 4 ¾ inches.
On the
women's side, Kristin Rush also recorded a personal best in the 800 meter run with
a time of 2:13.00, earning her second place overall. Fellow distance runner,
Janessa Benn finished fourth with a time of 2:26.00. Hurdler Chantal Luedeke,
also fared well this weekend as she earned sixth place in the women's 100 meter
hurdles.
