GREENSBORO - Two men's and two women's basketball players, two
football players and a baseball and volleyball player highlight the eight new
members selected to the 2012 North Carolina A&T Sports Hall of Fame. The

Among the inductees are players who brought A&T
championship glory. Former A&T running back James White led the Aggies to
consecutive MEAC football championships in 1991 and '92. Former point guard
Thomas Griffis led the Aggies to four straight NCAA appearances by way of
winning the MEAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament four consecutive
years.
The 2012 inductees include women's basketball
players Eva Patterson-Heath and Marsha Simmons, men's basketball player James
"Doc" Anderson, Sr., football player Demetrius Harrison and volleyball player Carmen
Barrantes-Santa Maria.
James "Doc" Anderson, Sr.
Men's Basketball, 1980-82
James Anderson was a first-team All-MEAC selection
in 1981 and '82. He was the only unanimous choice in 1981. Also during his
career, he earned MEAC all-defensive honors as well as being named to the
MEAC's all-tournament team. During his two years as an Aggie, he led the team
in assists and steals. In March of 2009, James was selected as one of the top 40
MEAC players by Triad Weekly. Among
his other accomplishments during his career was being named the Aggie Holiday
Classic MVP.
Carmen Barrantes-Santa Maria
Volleyball, 1980-84
Carmen Barrantes-Santa Maria was voted the team's

collegiate and international star. In 1982, she played on the USA Virgin Island
