2013-14 Season: Turned in the Aggies’ highest average throughout the season with a 197.15 average in 49 matches … Finished with a season pinfall of 9,859 … Earned MEAC Bowler of the Year honors a year after winning MEAC Rookie of the Year honors…Was also named A&T’s Female Athlete of the Year…Earned a spot on the All-MEAC team and the MEAC all-tournament team…Averaged 200 or better in five of 10 tournaments … Rolled a season-high 254 at the Aggie Master’s Challenge on Feb. 22 where she finished the tournament with a season-best 220.8 average in five games and was named the tournament MVP after finishing with the highest pinfall (1,104) out of 53 bowlers … Turned in a 208.5 average at the MEAC Meet #2 where she rolled four 200-plus games and tallied the highest pinfall (834) out of 26 bowlers …Finished with her highest pinfall of 1,212 at the Kutztown Invitational where she pinned three 200-plus games in six matches … Helped the Aggies win the Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational on Oct. 27 …Was the MEAC Bowler of the Week four times this season (Oct. 29, Dec. 10, Feb. 11, and Feb. 25) … Was also selected to three all-tournament teams (Aggie Master’s Challenge, Wildcat Invitational, and Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational).
2012-13 Season: Played in 43 individual matches and 55 bakers matches…Led the team with a 8,263 total pinfall and a 192.2 average… Was named N.C. A&T Female Rookie of the Year … Also named MEAC Rookie of the Year and earned second-team All-MEAC honors and MEAC all-tournament honors…Averaged 200 or better in three tournaments…Bowled a 200 or better at least once in each tournament …Her best individual game was a 242 against Hampton in a win at the MEAC tournament…Bowled a 200 game 14 times …Earned all-tournament honors at the Frederick Underwood Classic with a 204.4 average…Was fourth among all bowlers at the MEAC tournament with a 202.2 average…Was second among all bowlers with a 196.3 average at the MEAC #1 tournament…Helped the Aggies to win two individual matches against nationally-ranked opponents (Bethune-Cookman and Valparaiso) and nine bakers matches against nationally-ranked opponents…Helped A&T finish in second place in the Frederick Underwood Classic, behind No. 4 Sam Houston State in January … Named to the 2012 Fall Dean’s List and was named BCBSNC Co-Athlete of the Week on Nov. 4-11.
High School: Qualified for the 2012 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships, a national tournament for the top youth bowlers in the country…Took first place in the 2012 N.C. USBCA Pepsi Youth Championship Finals, and finished fifth in the 2011 N.C. USBC Pepsi Youth Championship Finals…Also finished ninth in the 2012 N.C. USBCA Youth Championship Tournament with a 1,786 score…Has a collection of rings that the North Carolina State Association of the USBC gave her commemorating her 300-game performances.
Personal: Full name is Emily Brooke Strombeck…She is the daughter of Bobby and Karen Strombeck…Has two siblings, Lindsay and Cameron Strombeck…She was born on Feb. 4, 1994 and has not decided upon a major …Plans to pursue a successful career and hopes to bowl with Team USA…Her other interests include being involved with music…Her favorite book is The Lucky One, her favorite television show is “One Tree Hill” and her favorite food is chicken and dumplings…Says the best part of being with A&T Athletics is having the chance to rebuild the bowling program.
