ROCK HILL, S.C. - North Carolina A&T got an encouraging pitching performance from freshman Janika May in a 5-1 loss to Harvard during the second day of the Winthrop Invitational at Terry Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Aggies also had a Saturday evening game against host Winthrop, in which they were defeated, 10-2.  On the final day of the Winthrop Invitational, A&T will face the SEC's Georgia Bulldogs at 1 p.m., on Sunday.

May (1-5) had one of her best outings of the season. She pitched 4.1 innings, gave up four earned runs, five hits and walked only one.  One of her biggest mistakes came in the third inning when she surrendered a three-run home run to Kasey Lange.

May ran into trouble again in the bottom of the fifth when she walked Andrea Del Conte to open the inning. Del Conte eventually moved to third on a stolen base and wild pitch. Lange's groundout to third scored Del Conte to give the Crimson a 4-1 lead. A&T then turned to reliever Shelby Snyder, who gave up an infield single to Emily Gusse and a walk to Zoe Galindo.

One batter later, Adrienne Hume singled to score Gusse for the Crimson's fifth run of the game. The Aggies put runners on in the sixth and seventh innings, but never mounted a series threat.  Morgan Groom (1-1) picked up the win after pitching a complete-game four-hitter. She recorded eight strikeouts and threw 99 pitches.

Detavia Keenan, the Aggies leading hitter, went 2-for-3.  A&T's only run was a result of back-to-back doubles by Snyder and Alexiss Domiguez. After driving in Snyder, Dominguez was thrown out trying to extend her double into a triple.

Sabrina Edmonds went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs against Winthrop.  Zabresha Blakeney added two hits and scored a run.
