Coming back in her sophomore season, Pope’s hard work in the offseason is expected to pay off this year… Her work ethic and love for the sport is undeniable… Work ethic is so good she has to be asked to leave the lanes after practices … Ended last year on a high note, making the MEAC Conference Championship All-Tournament team … Expected to be a big piece of the Aggies success in 2017-18 … Head coach Kim Terrell-Kearney calls her one the Aggies most gifted players with the potential to have a breakout season.
2017-18 Season: Bowled 31 games in individuals play with a 5,677 total pinfall and a 183.13 season average… Her season high of 261 was set on Feb. 3 at the Prairie View A&M Invitational which she also bowled a six-game series 1,255 with a 209.17 average.
2016-17 Season: Bowled 31 games in individuals play with a 5,493 total pinfall and a 177.19 season average… Her season high of 224 was set on Feb. 11 during the Stormin’ Ladyjacks Invite… Bowled two 1,000-plus series games in traditional team play with the highest being a six-game series, 1,165 total pinfall with a 194.17 average at the KU Invite.
High School: Pope was one of the top bowlers in the state of Illinois… Won her region in 2012 and ‘15… Finished fourth in the sectional in 2015 and was ranked 19th in the state…
Personal: Full name is Mia Pope…Daughter of William Pope and Nicole Norris… She has no siblings and is majoring in biology… She plans on becoming a doctor… Her favorite food is steak tacos and she enjoys watching television and sleeping.
