GREENSBORO (December 1, 2017) – North Carolina A&T women’s golf coach Richard Watkins has announced the signing of the 2017 Georgia 6A state champion Christyn Carr (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview HS).  Carr signing will go a long way in helping the Aggies replace seniors Sofia Alvarez and Jill Harvison next season.

“She is a really good golfer. She has been well taught. I’ve seen her golf swing, and it is solid,” said Watkins. “Christyn is an outstanding student in the classroom, and she is going to add some more stability to our team, and she is going to shoot some low rounds for us in the very near future because she is going to come ready to play.”

Carr could be a clutch golfer for the Aggies over her career. To win the state title, Carr birdied the fifth hole to win the playoff.  Carr also won four Hurricane Junior Georgia Tournaments during her prep career. Her last HJGT win came on May 8 when she shot in the 70’s in both rounds to earn the victory. She won the 18th Annual William (Bill) Dickey Jr., Invitational at the 6,090-yard Ibis Tradition Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Fla., in June.

During the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala., in June, Carr finished tied for eighth on the 6,084-yard course. Carr shot a 38 in the 9-hole first round before shooting a 36 in nine holes in the second round.
