Aggies add an outstanding cornerback late in the recruiting process to help a defense that already had one of the best pass defenses in the nation ... Started his collegiate career at Abeliene Christian before moving on to Penn State University in 2017 ... Has big-play ability and a nose for the football in coverage ... Will be a nice addition in the Aggies defensive backfield which already has All-American Frank "Mac" McCain III.

2017 Season at Penn State: Did not play in a game … Took a redshirt season as a junior.

2016 Season at Abeliene Christian: Played in six games with two starts … Was selected as a preseason first-team All-Southland Conference player … Made five tackles and recovered a fumble against Northern Colorado on Sept. 10 … Totaled one tackle and broke up a pass at Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 24.

2015 Season at Abeliene Christian: Played in 11 games with 10 starts …  Made 40 tackles, intercepted six passes for a total of 114 return yards, broke up nine passes and had 15 pass deflections … Led the Southland Conference in interceptions on his way to being named Southland Conference freshman of the year … Finished sixth in the voting for FCS Freshman of the Year … Also, named first-team All-Southland Conference … Named Southland Conference defensive player of the week on Nov. 2 after intercepting two passes, breaking up two passes and making tackles against McNeese State … Had three tackles, grabbed two interceptions and returned those two picks for a total of 56 yards against Houston Baptist.

High School: Played his high school football at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nev … Played one season at Churchill High School in Potomac, Md … Was a two-time Nevada State Champion and 2014 USA Today National Champion at Bishop Gorman (2013 & 2014)… Guided the Gailes to a 15-0 record in 2014 and a 13-2 mark in 2013 … Selected first-team All-City by the Las Vegas Sun as a senior … Was an All-District selection as a junior and a senior … Finished his senior season with 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups, three interceptions and 14 pass deflections … As a junior, he posted 36 tackles, 10 pass breakups, four interceptions and 14 pass deflections … Rated a three-star prospect by ESPN and Rivals and a two-star recruit by Scout … ESPN ranked him the 11th-best player in Nevada and Rivals ranked him the seventh-best … Also participated in track and field in high school with a personal-best 10.65 in the 100 meters.

Personal: Full name is Jabari Jamaal Joseph Butler … He is the son of Yvette and Duane Butler and was born April 12, 1997 … Has two siblings, Khari and Aliyah … Father played football and ran track and field at Long Beach State … Majors in telecommunications and enjoys watching movies, reading, traveling and playing video games.
