Strombeck Has Quality Day 2 at Hawk Classic

MILLSBORO, Del. – North Carolina A&T junior bowler Cameron Strombeck finished 10th as the Aggies went 4-1 on the second day of the 2019 Hawk Classic Invitational Saturday hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore at Millsboro Lanes.

The eighth-ranked Aggies (44-13) started the day with an 890-793 win over No. 16 St. Francis (PA) before handing No. 15 Delaware State a 938-925 defeat.

N.C. A&T's only loss on the day was to No. 6 Arkansas State 976-954 in the third game. The Aggies finished out strong with wins over No. 13 Lincoln Memorial (971-949) and St. Francis College (1,014-908).

Strombeck recorded four games in the 200's including starting the day with a 205 in the win over St. Francis (PA). of the five games of 200-plus. She followed that performance with a 215 against the Hornets and a 225 versus the Red Wolves.

She punished 210 pins in the Aggies victory over Lincoln Memorial before closing out the day with a 193 against St. Francis College. When Day 2 ended she had a total of 1,053 pins for a five-game average of 210.60.

In five games bowled, sophomore Ericka Quesada finished 19th with 1,020 total pins (204.00). She also recorded four 200-plus games. Quesada started off with a 164 against St. Francis (PA) followed by her best score of the day, a 223 in the win over Del State. She closed out the day with a 202 against Arkansas State, a 209 against Lincoln Memorial and a 222 against St. Francis College.

Sophomore Cristina Acosta had a five-game total of 949 (189.80). Her best score of the day was a 204 in the loss to the Red Wolves. Senior Mia Pope's five-game total was 929 (195.80). Pope's top score was 203 in the first game against St. Francis (PA).

Sophomore Pamela Warr had a three-game total of 521 pins (173.67). She did post a 208 against Lincoln Memorial.

The Aggies will go into bracket play as the seventh seed after recording 4,767 total pins in traditional play Saturday. For the tournament, they have knocked down 9,749 total pins for an average of 195.0. 

N.C. A&T starts with No. 23 Youngstown State in bracket play, Sunday.  The winner faces the loser of No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore and Duquesne. The loser faces the winner of No. 14 Tulane and Del State.
