Charles Cheek enters his first season as a graduate
assistant for the North Carolina A&T football program.
Cheek competed for the Grambling State football team, and
served as team captain in 2010. He played tight
end from for three seasons before becoming a running back during the 2010
season. His best season was in 2009, when
he totaled nine receptions for 110 yards in seven games. He had two receptions for 79 yards and a
touchdown as a sophomore. He also
played fullback as a freshman, and helped pave the way for running backs Frank
Warren and Cornelius Walker to combine for 1, 466 rushing yards. He was also named to the Grambling State
Presidents List in 2007 and 2009.
He was a captain of the Starr's Mill High School football
team in 2007, helping the Panthers earn the Georgia Class 4A State Football
Playoffs. Cheek holds the all-time
receiving record for Starr's Mill High School.
Cheek has volunteered his time at several youth
organizations over the years. He served
as the vice president for Athletes Committed to Excellence, mentoring
student-athletes in their academic and athletic pursuits. He also volunteered at the Delta Classic for
Literacy in Little Rock, Ark., and
helped tutor children at the Boys and Girls Club of America in Ruston, La.
He is pursuing a graduate degree in management information
systems at A&T, after earning a bachelor's degree in business management
from Grambling State in 2011.
