Bill Dunn enters his first season with North Carolina
A&T as an assistant track and field coach. Dunn joins the Aggies following
five successful seasons at Methodist University as head cross country and
assistant track & field coach under current North Carolina A&T director
of track and field programs, Duane Ross.
Methodist track and field athletes broke 13 school records
under Dunn's tutelage. Every middle and long distance runner set personal best
during his tenure. Dunn was responsible for coaching Kristy Zeiler to a career
that included two USA South Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year awards,
All- Region, seven Mason Dixon Conference Championships, and 20 All-Mason Dixon
conference honors.
Dunn has also coached athletes to 41 individual Mason Dixon indoor
conference champions, 47 individual Mason Dixon outdoor champions, one Mason
Dixon Outdoor Athlete of the Year, four USA South All-Cross Country athletes,
18 Methodist scholar athletes, and two Academic All-Americans. Dunn has also
aided Methodist to three Mason Dixon conference championships, a fourth-place
finish at 2012 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships, a fourth-place finish
at 2011 NCAA Indoor National Championships, and third-place finish at the 2011
NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
Dunn's passion for developing athletes has made him a
well-known force within the USA Track and Field and AAU track and field
communities. He has assisted in the development and coaching of several Junior
Olympic National Champions. His expertise in mid-distance and long-distance
running made him a nice fit for A&T.
Bill Dunn is a native of Kinston, N.C. were he attended Kinston
High School and was a standout track and field athlete. After graduation he
attended Shawnee State University and the University of Phoenix. He also did
his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy before retiring and returning to North
Carolina. Coach Dunn has his USA Track and Field Level 1 coaching certification
and a USA Track and Field certified official.
Dunn holds his B.S., in management. He is married to the
former Tania Mora and they have four children Tre', Anais, Brielle, and Talia.
