SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA PLAYER OF THE WEEK (OCTOBER 29-NOVEMBER 4)
Major: Business Management
Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.
Professional Goals: "I want to be a management consultant. Basically what I would be doing is helping corporations to establish a firm base of what direction they need to pursue financially.
The Student-Athlete: "I came in as a walk-on in 2010. I won a starting job last year and since then I have been building myself up. I am not finished, I have more to accomplish."
The evidence for being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: In 2011, Grant was one of 20 finalist for the Jerry Rice Award. During the week, Grant returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown to seal a 16-3 win for the Aggies. Grant was also named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week. Grant is a part of the second best defense nationally ranked.
Grant on being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: "What makes me a good player is that I have the heart and passion for the game. I have determination to play. I know that I am undersized but I use my strengths to supersede my weaknesses. I use my agility and speed to get around offensive lineman."
