Probable Starters: MB Aleena McDaniel (5-10, Sophomore, 2.30 kills/set), RS Maris Kellar (5-8 Sophomore, 0.29 blocks/set), S Liz Martino (5-7, Freshman, 4.96 assists/set), OH Brooke Stamnes (5-9, Sophomore, 2.39 kills/set), MH Te'Borah Hawkins-Hollingsworth (6-0, Sophomore, 0.69 blocks/set) and OH Jillian Nobles (6-0 Freshman, 1.53 kills/set)

Aggies Overview:  North Carolina A&T will open the MEAC schedule on Friday, September 27 when it faces North Carolina Central. A&T opened conference play last season against the Eagles on Sept. 28, 2012. The Eagles won the match 3-2. Stamnes leads the Aggies with 2.39 kills per set. The sophomore has also led A&T in kills in its last two matches. Stamnes has help from McDaniel on the front row who has registered 122 kills this season. McDaniel has led the Aggies in kills five times this season. Martino has adjusted well for the Aggies and is recording a team-high 4.96 assists per set.

Match Overview: The Eagles of North Carolina Central University will be looking for their first win of the season on Friday against the Aggies. NCCU has started the season 0-16. The Eagles are 0-5 at McDougald-McLendon gymnasium. Da’sha Brown leads the Eagles in kills (120) and has averaged 2.45 per set. Kalin Russell (100) is the only other Eagle that has recorded at least 100 kills. Russell is averaging 2.04 kills per set. Additionally, she is ranked eighth in the MEAC in hitting percentage (.224). As a team, North Carolina Central has recorded 8.35 kills per set while their opponents have produced 14.14. Alice Genna heads the Eagles in assists (204). The Eagles have taken a slight 71-70.5 edge in the blocking game over their opponents. Ashley McCarthy leads the team with 35 blocks.The Eagles have only won one set this season which was in a 3-1 loss to Gardner-Webb. NCCU has lost all of its other matches in three sets.

Potential Star: Stamnes has led the Aggies in kills in their last two matches. She finished with nine against Csmpbell on Sept. 24 and 11 against Murray State on Sept. 21.

News & Notes:

  •     Stamnes led the Aggies with 18 kills in their first meeting with North Carolina Central last season. McDaniel added 16 kills in the 3-2 setback on Sept. 28. Chelsea Fox led all players with 51 assists.
  • The Aggies also fell 3-1 to the Eagles on Oct. 26, 2012. Stamnes tallied 14 kills and Hawkins-Hollingsworth added 11.
  •    The last time A&T defeated North Carolina Central was on Oct. 7, 2008 in a 3-1 victory at Moore Gym.
  • Ashley Johnson is currently fifth in the MEAC in digs, averaging 3.90 digs per set.
