David Butts was announced as a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff under head coach Jay Joyner on July 12, 2017. Butts will be responsible for in-game management, recruiting, coordinating team travel and the skill development of N.C. A&T’s post players. He will also monitor the academic progress of players and serve as the team’s video coordinator.

Butts has spent time on the prep, junior college and collegiate level. He comes to N.C. A&T after spending one season at Division III Rosemont College. During the 2016-17 season, Rosemont went 16-11 overall and 13-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Philadelphia native also spent one season (2015-16) at Rise Academy Prep in Philadelphia and had a three-year stint (2012-15) at Cecil College, a junior college in North East, Md.

In 2010, Butts received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Alvernia University in Reading, Pa.
