NC A&T Women's Basketball BIO
Anthony Bland joined the North Carolina A&T women’s basketball staff in 2017 as the Director of Player Development after previously serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the Aggies since September 2013. During his years as a strength and conditioning coach Bland designed and implemented the annual training programs for the women’s basketball, track and field, baseball, softball and cross-country teams, as well as assisting with the football program.
Before his arrival to N.C. A&T, Bland spent the 2014 year working with the National Football League’s (NFL) New York Giants in the off-season. Working with the Giants he assisted with multiple aspects of their training program which included enhancing the players speed, agility, conditioning, power, strength, and flexibility. Bland worked at Velocity Sports Performance in 2013 where he worked with middle school and collegiate athletes from a variety of sports, training all physical athletic qualities, with a focus on speed, agility, and sport-specific movement development. Before Velocity, he worked at Webber International University (2012) working directly with women’s basketball, indoor volleyball, cross-country & triathlon teams, as well as assisted with football.
In 2011, Bland completed an internship at Fordham University working with a variety of sports. For the academic school year (2010-2011) he completed a mentorship in preparation for the CSCCa-SCCC exam at Seton Hall University where he worked mostly with the reputable men’s basketball program, as well as the golf program. In the summer of 2010, Bland also completed an internship at The New Jersey Institute of Technology working with a variety of sports.
Bland earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education/adult fitness from Kean University in 2009. He holds professional certifications from the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and the United States Weightlifting Federation. Bland is also CPR/AED certified.
