 Amber Monroe

Amber Monroe was named an assistant coach for the North Carolina A&T track and field programs by director of track and field programs Duane Ross on August 21, 2017. Monroe will be responsible for coaching all throwing events.

Monroe, began her coaching career as a volunteer with the throws program at Wake Forest University. While at Wake Forest, she worked under and was mentored by notable throws coach, Jermain Jones.

Monroe has also gained experience in track and field as an intern at JDL Fast Track, the largest and most popular indoor track and field facilities in North Carolina. While there, Monroe played an integral role with regards to facility and event operations.

Monroe attended the University of Miami, where she received a bachelor’s degree in sports administration and was a contributing member on the track and field team. While at Miami, Monroe was an ACC champion and qualified for four NCAA national championships. After graduating from Miami, Monroe went on to finish her eligibility and pursue a graduate degree at James Madison University. While at JMU, Monroe broke every JMU school and facility record in the shot put and discus, and was conference and ECAC champion in every event she competed in.

Monroe is from Miami, Fla., and attended Miami Northwestern Senior High School.

 

PR: 17.18 meters in the indoor shot put PR: 16.67 meters in the outdoor shot put PR: 55.45 meters in the outdoor discus throw
