GREENSBORO (April 9, 2018) – North Carolina A&T infielder Milton Rivera (5-foot-9, SR, Humacao, Puerto Rico) was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference co-player of the week in baseball for his performance during the week of April 2-8, the conference office announced Monday.

It is the first conference honor of Rivera’s career and comes after a monster week at the plate where he helped the Aggies to a 3-1 record.

Rivera went a combined 8-for-17 (.417) for the week, hit two home runs, drove in four runs and scored five more in a win over UNC Greensboro, a loss at Presbyterian and a doubleheader sweep of Florida A&M. Rivera homered and scored twice in helping the Aggies beat FAMU twice to move into a first-place tie in the MEAC Southern Division with the Rattlers at 7-4.

He went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a homer against Presbyterian before adding a 3-for-4 effort in the second game of the doubleheader against FAMU. Rivera also stole two bases during the week. Rivera leads the Aggies in hits (36), home runs (5), triples (3), total bases (61) and is tied in runs scored (21). In the conference, Rivera is second in both home runs and triples while ranking sixth in hits and seventh in slugging percentage (.473). Through 30 games he is hitting .279 with 16 RBI.

N.C. A&T has won seven of their last eight games and four consecutive at War Memorial Stadium. The Aggies host Appalachian State for their midweek game on 6 p.m., Wednesday.
