Aggies Release Theme and Promotional Schedule
GREENSBORO - North Carolina A&T Athletics released its promotional and themes schedule for the 2012 football season, giving Aggie fans yet another reason to look forward to an exciting year of college football that includes seven home games at Aggie Stadium.
The festivities begin with the first home game against West Virginia State University on Sept. 8, where A&T will recognize the newest members of the North Carolina A&T Sports Hall of Fame at halftime. Eight new members will be inducted into the prestigious Hall. In addition, a McDonald's smoothie truck will tailgate with Aggie fans during the game. The game against WVSU kicks off at 6 p.m.
The next home game against Virginia University of Lynchburg at 1:30 p.m., will be held Sept. 15 during Family and Friends Weekend. Aggie family and friends will enjoy a pregame tailgate sponsored by the Office of New Student Programs. Family and Friends Weekend allows parents and other family members to return to A&T to see how new students are coping with college.
ESPNU will televise the Aggies home game against Morgan State at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 27. The live telecast will be complemented with a live pregame show by 102.1 FM.
University and Former Athletes Day is Oct. 13. University Day is a university event that invites hundreds of high school students to campus. A part of the day will include the prospective students watching the Aggies face MEAC rival Howard at 1:30 p.m. University Day participants can enter the game for $10 with the proper armband.
The day will also include A&T Athletics reaching out to its former student-athletes. Registered former student-athletes will be invited to the Chancellor's tent before kickoff. They will also be honored with special seating during the game. Fans will also enjoy a Carolina Ford Dealers Vehicle display the day of the game.
The Greatest Homecoming On Earth returns on Oct. 27. In addition to the numerous activities leading up to the 1:30 p.m., game against defending MEAC champion Norfolk State, radio stations 102 Jamz and WQMG 97.1 will broadcast live from Aggie Stadium.
Pop Warner Day at Aggie Stadium will be held Nov. 3, where the Aggies will face the Rattlers of Florida A&M at 1:30 p.m. There will be kid activities, including giveaways and pictures with the Aggie mascot. The 1992 MEAC championship football team will also be recognized during halftime. Entrance for 12-and-under Pop Warner football players and cheerleaders in uniform is buy one ticket get one free if they are accompanied by a paying adult.
The last home game of the season, Nov. 10 versus S.C. State, is Sponsor Appreciation and Senior Day. Fans will enjoy pregame field presentations for the senior football players and cheerleaders. McDonald's will be offering giveaways and samples for the Aggie fans.
The Aggies are excited about the upcoming home schedule after going 4-1 at home last season.
