D'VONTE GRANT

Full Name: D'Vonte Grant
Height: 5-11
Weight: 205
Major: Business Management
Hometown: Charlotte, N.C.

Professional Goals: "I want to be a management consultant. Basically what I would be doing is helping corporations to establish a firm base of what direction they need to pursue financially.

The Student-Athlete: "I came in as a walk-on in 2010. I won a starting job last year and since then I have been building myself up. I am not finished, I have more to accomplish."

The evidence for being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: In 2011, Grant was one of 20 finalist for the Jerry Rice Award. He is an undersized linebacker, yet he led the Aggies in tackles last season, and he is second on the team in stops this season. During the week, Grant returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown to seal a 16-3 win for the Aggies. Grant was also named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week. Grant is a part of the second best defense nationally ranked.

Grant on being the BCBSNC Athlete of the Week: "What makes me a good player is that I have the heart and passion for the game. I have determination to play. I know that I am undersized but I use my strengths to supersede my weaknesses. I use my agility and speed to get around offensive lineman."
