GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T State University swimming team opened the 2013-14 season at the Greensboro Aquatic Club All-N.C. Invitational with a 12th place finish.
The Aggies tallied a team score of 82 in the two-day event which ended on Saturday evening.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team (Danielle Jackson, Dominique Crable, Victoria Orr, and Niya Ross) placed in the top 20 and finished 19th with a time of 1:44.37. The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Crable, Orr, Jackson, and Ross) was 25th (3:51.99).
The 400-yard medley relay team (Miranda Jacobs, Jackson, Aarica Carrington, and Ross) was 29th (4:46.85) and the 200-yard medley relay (Hill, Jackson, Jacobs, and Kenya Dunn) finished 31st with a time of 2:00.75.
Senior Christian Hill finished 31st in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:48.42 and Ross followed in 32nd (5:50.08).
In the 200-yard individual medley, Orr (2:23.18) and Jacobs (2:30.39) were 35th and 40th respectively.
Dunn led the Aggies in the 50-yard freestyle. She was 36th and clocked a time of 26.30. In the 200-yard breaststroke, Orr finished 36th (2:42.05).
A trio of Aggies finished in the top 45 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Jackson headed the charge for A&T and was 34th (1:12.34), followed by Crable in 39th (1:16.64) and Jacobs in 42nd (1:19.01).
Other notable performances included Dunn’s time of 58.19 in the 100-yard freestyle which was good for 43rd place and Erika Eisenman’s 45th place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.72).
A&T will face Campbell and UNC Asheville on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Buies Creek beginning at 11 a.m.
