Probable Starters: G Christina Carter (5-8, Redshirt-Sophomore, 12.2 ppg) F Tracy King (5-10, Senior, 13.4 ppg), G Ariel Bursey (5-10, Junior, 8.4 ppg), F Eboni Ross (6-3, Redshirt-Sophomore, 7.4 ppg), F DeAndra Davis (5-10, Senior, 5.5 ppg)

Aggies Overview: The Aggies opened up the MEAC schedule with a 69-55 win over Bethune-Cookman and will look to conclude its trip in the Sunshine State when it visits Florida A&M on Monday, Jan. 13. A&T is coming off one of its best shooting performances where it was 52.7 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from behind the 3-pointer range. The Aggies placed three players in double figures for the third straight game. A&T’s offense is averaging 68.3 points per game, which is headed by King who leads it with 13.4 points per game. The Aggies will have to rely on their defense against the Rattlers who are one of the league’s top scoring teams. However A&T’s defense is forcing 24.0 turnovers per game, with the help of King who is recording 3.6 steals per game which leads the conference. King (6.2 rpg) and Ross (6.0 rpg) have controlled the Aggies on the board. 

Rattlers Overview: Florida A&M fell to N.C. Central 71-64 at the Al Lawson Center on Saturday to drop to 1-2 in the MEAC. The Rattlers are 3-2 at home this season and are led by guard Jasmine Grice who is second in the league in scoring with 21.8 points per game. Grice has led the Rattlers in scoring in 14 of their 16 games. Junior guard Taneka Rubin has averaged 12.4 points per game and senior guard Kimberly Sparkman has recorded 10.6 points per game. The trio of Grice, Rubin, and Sparkman has produced the bulk of their team’s 3-pointers as the Rattlers have made 95 baskets from behind the arc. The Rattlers are second behind the Aggies in scoring offense (67.8).

Potential Star: Carter has been able to spread the ball for the Aggies and create open shots. She is recording 4.8 assists per game and finished with seven in A&T’s last game. She is also second on the team in scoring.

News & Notes:

*The Aggies swept the Rattlers last season with a 73-52 win at the Al Lawson Center and a 69-50 victory at Corbett Sports Center. King recorded a double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) in the first meeting and finished with 10 points at Corbett Sports Center.

*A&T has placed three players in double figures in scoring in its last three games. The Aggies are 5-0 when three players finish in double figures.  

*In away games, Ross leads the Aggies in rebounds with 7.6 rebounds per game.    

From the Coach: “FAMU is one of the league’s top scoring teams. They have a lot of options on the offensive end, in particular to Jasmine Grice who is one of the top scorers in the MEAC. It will be a true test for our team’s defense.”
