GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team dropped its season-opener 7-0 to Wofford College, Friday afternoon at the Simkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The duo of sophomore Jayla Scott and junior Kenya Colbert fell to Sarah Evans and Julia Paulson 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match. Senior Kimberly Stalling was paired with freshman Saundra Smith in the No. 2 doubles match as they took a 6-1 loss to Kalli Karas and Catherine Martin.

Colbert faced Evans again in the top singles match where she lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Scott appeared in the No. 2 position where she battled with Aubrey Conventry but fell 6-4, 6-3. Paulson defeated Stalling 6-4, 6-3 and Martin swept Smith, 6-0, 6-0.  The final match for Wofford was won by default.

The Aggies dropped to 0-1 while Wofford improved to 1-0. A&T’s match against Appalachian State scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25 has been canceled.
