GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T bowling team set the tone as it opened up the first day of the Aggie Master’s Challenge by going 5-0 in quad baker matches at AMF Lanes, earlier Friday evening.
No. 17 A&T (52-20 overall) was the only team to post a perfect record on Friday. The Aggies finished with the highest pinfall of 3,694. As a team, A&T pinned an average of 184.7. A&T rallied to take down Fayetteville State 773-762 in its first meeting of the season.
The Aggies also defeated Morgan State 728-617 in its second match. A&T also faced Shaw for the first time this year as it knocked off the Bears, 694-535. In their last two games, A&T secured wins over UAB (706-653) and NCCU (793-697).
The Aggies are currently leading the tournament (3,694) followed by Fayetteville State (3,380), NCCU (3,333), Morgan State (3,320), Hampton (2,793), Shaw (2,699), UAB (3,304), and WSSU (2,960).
Saturday’s competition will start with a Senior Day presentation at 9:30 a.m., followed by five traditional team matches scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.
