A&T Takes On Savannah State On Senior Day

Aggies Overview: A&T is seeking its eighth straight win which will be the longest streak of the season. Saturday’s game will also serve as Senior Day for King and Davis. King has been instrumental in A&T’s success this season as she leads the team in scoring (14.0), rebounds (6.1) and steals (77). The triple threat has also recorded double figures in scoring in eight of the last nine games. Davis is coming off a career-high performance where she dropped 17 points and eight rebounds in the Aggies 79-51 win against NCCU on Saturday. Against the Eagles, the Aggies four players scored in double figures for the fifth time this season. Debbie Smith and Eboni Ross aided in the Aggies bench scoring combining for 28 points and 17 rebounds. Smith notched A&T’s second double-double of the year with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ross shot 4 of 6 from the field and continues to lead the conference in field goal percentage (54.5 percent).
Tigers Overview: Savannah State is coming off a 66-62 loss to South Carolina State. The Tigers are 5-8 on the road this season and are led by senior guard Ezinne Kalu (15.9) in scoring who is ranked ninth in the conference. Freshman center Tiyonda Davis controls the defense for SSU and is averaging 7.4 rebounds per game and had recorded a team-leading 44 blocks. Senior guard Jazmine Kirkland is second on the team in scoring (9.9) and is shooting 51.3 percent from the field which is second in the conference.

*A&T’s scoring defense (55.0) is tenth in the nation. A&T also leads the MEAC in field goal percentage (42.1 percent) 3-point field goal percentage (32.2 percent) and rebounding defense (35.3)
*The Aggies are 7-1 all-time against the Tigers.
*In their last meeting, A&T defeated SSU 75-61 on Feb. 15 in Savannah, King led all players in scoring with 19 points as the Aggies placed four players in double figures.
