GREENSBORO – Thirteen student-athletes from the North Carolina A&T women’s tennis team instructed physical education classes at Greensboro’s Falkener Elementary in March. The Aggies worked with Kindergarteners, third graders and fifth graders at the elementary school.
By coordinating with Nancy Cauble, Falkener’s PE specialist, the Aggies were able to present Falkener students with various activities that introduced tennis. Some stations included hand-eye coordination, strokes and rallies.
"It has been wonderful having positive role models for our students to see giving back to the community by volunteering in the schools,” said Cauble. “It has been inspiring for the students to see what hard work, dedication to their education and their sport and willingness to share their knowledge looks like in a college athlete. We appreciate the opportunity to expose our students to a sport that we don't have the equipment for here at Falkener."
A&T has also been asked to return to instruct and work with other grade levels. The Aggies look forward to returning to Falkener Elementary to help the students advance in their new sport.
