GREENSBORO --  The North Carolina A&T volleyball program has announced its 2014 schedule which includes four tournaments featuring the annual Aggie-Spartan Invitational.

"I'm very excited with the schedule that we have put together," head coach Hal Clifton said.  "It's a great mix of teams from many different conferences.  It will create a good challenge for us both mentally and physically."

The Aggies will open the 2014 season on Friday, Aug. 29 when they compete in the Indiana State Tournament in Terre Haute, Ind. A&T’s tournament opponents will include Chicago State and Wright State.

A&T will travel to South Carolina Sept. 5-6 for The Citadel Invitational where teams such as Stetson and Charleston Southern are scheduled to compete. After visiting East Carolina on Sept. 9, the Aggies will open their home schedule with the Aggie-Spartan Invitational, an invitational they share with UNC Greensboro, on Sept. 12.

A&T will host UMES at 7 p.m., at Moore Gymnasium. The Aggies will take on UNC Greensboro on Sept. 13 at Fleming Gymnasium beginning at 11:30 a.m., and will wrap-up the tournament later that evening by hosting Alabama A&M at 5 p.m..

The Aggies will get their final tune-up at the Wofford Invitational on Sept. 19-20 before opening their MEAC schedule with a three-match home stand, beginning on Sept. 26 against rival NCCU. Bethune-Cookman (Oct. 3), and Florida A&M (Oct. 5) will also make its way to Moore.

A&T will spend its next six matches on the road against S.C. State, Savannah State, Campbell, NCCU, Florida A&M, and B-CU. Fans will be able to catch the Aggies in their final four regular-season matches at home featuring FAMU (Oct. 31), B-CU (Nov. 2), Savannah State (Nov. 7) and  S.C. State (Nov. (9).

"Our team will be ready for the challenge that lies ahead of us in both conference and non-conference play," said Clifton. "With our core group having a year of experience together and our team one year older, we feel like we are in a good place.  We have the ability to be a good team. What we want to be is a great team."

The Aggies made its return to the MEAC tournament in 2013 after a six-year hiatus and plans to make a second straight appearance in 2014 when the tournament comes to Coppin State Nov. 20-23.
