GREENSBORO – The North Carolina A&T softball team suffered its worst loss of the season with an 18-0 setback against Samford on Friday afternoon in a non-conference game at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.

The Aggies (14-25) were only able to tally two hits from freshman Syerra Askew and senior Tiffany Macklin. In five innings, Samford (33-13) recorded 18 hits, including six home runs, two from Caroline Wilder who finished with a game-high five RBI.

A&T used three pitchers against the Bulldogs but it wasn’t enough as they took a 6-0 lead after the second inning. The Aggies kept Samford scoreless in the third but the Bulldogs unleashed 12 runs in the fourth inning where they hit five homers.

Pitcher Grey Adams picked up her seventh win and finished with seven strikeouts. Freshman pitcher Jamie Jordon recorded the loss and fell to 0-2 in the circle. Senior Shelby Snyder tossed two innings and gave up 12 hits while freshman Maiven McKnight pitched the final inning of the game.

The Aggies will return back to action on Wednesday, April 30 for a non-conference doubleheader at Western Carolina beginning at 3 p.m.
