PETERSBURG, Va. (October 24, 2017) – Senior Luis Acevedo and freshman Casey Lindo helped the North Carolina A&T men’s golf team stay competitive at the 2017 Trojan Fall Classic hosted by Virginia State at the par 72, 6,605-yard Dogwood Trace Gold Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
The Aggies finished in fifth place by shooting a 631 over two rounds. They finished behind Virginia Union (603), Livingstone College (613), Hampton (615) and Maryland Eastern Shore (626). Acevedo and Lindo helped the Aggies stay within a few strokes of being in the top-3. Acevedo has finished in the top-5 in all three tournaments the Aggies have played. Acevedo finished tied for third at the Trojan Fall Classic by shooting 6-over.
Lindo was among the top-15 individuals over the 36-hole. He finished tied for 12th with two other golfers at 10-over. Cameron Bryant placed 25th at 18-over.
Acevedo has shot in the 70’s in six of the seven rounds he has participated in this season. He shot a 4-over 76 on the first day before rebounding on Day 2 to take two strokes off his score to shoot a 74. Acevedo’s 74 helped him move out of 10th place on the first day to his third-place finish. Lindo was tied with Acevedo after the first day with a 76. Lindo’s first-day 76 was a season law. He followed his 76 with a 78 on the second day.
N.C. A&T’s Cody Lisner (T-29) and Edward Trent (T-33) also participated in the classic. The Aggies are back in action next week when they travel to Savannah, Ga., to play in the Savannah State Fall Tiger Invitational, Oct. 30-31. It will be the Aggies final tournament of the fall semester.
