AGGIES OVERVIEW: North Carolina A&T picked up their first road win of the season in the MEAC opener at Delaware State on Monday. The Aggies will host three MEAC opponents in the Corbett Sports Center beginning with Morgan State on Saturday before Coppin State comes in on Monday. N.C. A&T went 5-7 against non-conference opponents and have won four of their last six games including two straight in Corbett. The duo of C’Coriea Foy (14.2) and Kala Green (12.8) leads the Aggies in scoring while Alexus Lessears is the top rebounder at 9.2 and Green is the Aggie leader in assists at 3.4 per game. In Corbett, the Aggies are 18-9 against Morgan State and won the last five meetings in the series. Coach Robinson holds a 5-0 record against Morgan State. At home, the Aggies are 18-10 against Coppin State, but the Eagles won last season 65-57 in Baltimore. Coach Robinson holds a 3-4 record against Coppin State.

MORGAN STATE OVERVIEW: Morgan State is undefeated in the MEAC after downing Maryland Eastern Shore, Florida A&M and Savannah State at home last week extending their win streak to four. Under the direction of second-year head coach Edward Davis, Morgan State went 9-21 last season with a 7-9 finish in the MEAC. Morgan State is the conference leader in steals with 178 this season and are second in both rebounds (609) and offensive rebounds per game (16.0). Lexus Spears leads the MEAC in field goal percentage (.540) while Braennan Farrar is the conference leader in steals (2.88). Farrar is second in the league in both total assists (63) and assist/turnover ratio (1.40) while third in field goals made (94) and total minutes played (561). Spears is third in both field goals made (94) and offensive rebounds per game (4).

COPPIN STATE OVERVIEW: Coppin State won their last two games at home against Savannah State and Florida A&M before falling on the road in the conference opener to Norfolk State. Under the direction of second-year head coach Dewayne Burroughs, Coppin State went 8-21 with an 8-8 finish in the MEAC. Coppin State leads the conference in free throw percentage (.736). Genesis Lucas is the MEAC leader in points (19.0), assists (4.3), field goals made (95), free throws made (63), free throw percentage (.840) and minutes played (38.87) while Chance Graham is the MEAC leader in rebounds (9.3).

LAST TIME OUT
N.C. A&T cruised to a 66-48 road victory in their MEAC opener at Delaware State with three Aggies in double figure scoring. Senior Kala Green had 16 points on 6-of-10 made shots from the field, sophomore C’Coriea Foy has 14 points on four made 3-pointers and sophomore Alexus Lessears scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked four shots. Another sophomore, Le’on Hill garnered a game-high 11 rebounds and blocked two shots. The Aggies held the Hornets to 22.8 percent shooting, the lowest shooting percentage of an Aggie opponent this season. N.C. A&T held Delaware State to 13 field goals and four assists while forcing 24 turnovers.

NEWS & NOTES

  • N.C. A&T is a perfect 6-0 when leading in the game with five minutes remaining and holding opponents under 50 total points. This season they are 5-2 in the Corbett Sports Center and are 6-2 when leading in 3-point field goal percentage, rebounds and assists.
  • Nationally, the Aggies are ranked fifth in turnovers forced (24.54), seventh in offensive rebounds per game (17), 27th in rebounds per game (43.38) and 28th in turnover margin (5.38). N.C. A&T leads the MEAC in those four categories as well as scoring offense (67.8) and assists per game (14.9).
  • Alexus Lessears ranks second in the MEAC in offensive rebounds per game (4) and rebounds per game (9.2). C’Coriea Foy is fourth in steals 2.54) and tied for fifth in 3-point field goals per game (1.92) along with Kala Green.
  • Kala Green has registered double figure points in the Aggies last five games. She scored a career-high 23 points vs. Georgia.
