Denzel Jones earned a promotion to an assistant football coach for the North Carolina A&T football program in 2018 after serving as the Aggies graduate assistant in 2017. Jones will be responsible for coaching inside linebackers and rovers after spending two years as the Aggies starting middle linebacker in 2014 and ‘15. Jones will also be responsible for scouting, game planning and monitoring academics.
Jones graduated from N.C. A&T in 2016 with a degree in supply-side management. He was a member of the American Marketing Association and he involves himself in the community through church activities and mentoring youth. His mother, Jacqueline, is an instructor in the journalism and mass communications department at North Carolina A&T.
As a player, Jones lettered four times in football at N.C. A&T. He closed out his career with 130 tackles (71 unassisted), 16.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, three pass breakups and six passes defended. He was named Celebration Bowl Defensive MVP in 2015.
Before coming to N.C. A&T, Jones attended Dudley High School which is approximately 2 ½ miles from N.C. A&T’s campus. He earned all-area, all-conference and defensive MVP honors. He served as placekicker, punter, linebacker, fullback and tight end at Dudley. Jones was among the National Society of High School Scholars and was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta Mathematical Honor Society in high school.
