CHARLESTON, S.C. – North Carolina A&T is still trying to reignite its offense after losing to the College of Charleston, 8-1 Friday evening at Patriots Point. The Aggies managed only two hits in the game and have scored two runs over the past three games.

Junior Cam Williamson went 1-for-3 and scored the Aggies only run while senior Jason King drove in the only run.

Senior RHP Tim Luth was the Aggies starter. The reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) pitcher of the week went 6 1/3 innings and gave up five runs, four earned, and struck out two. Luth’s counterpart on the mound, Charleston’s Griffin McLarty pitched a complete-game two-hitter where he struck out eight for the win.

The Aggies did take the lead against McLarty. Williamson opened the second inning with a double down the right-field line. Williamson moved to third on a passed ball with one out. King then got him home on an RBI sacrifice fly to center. Only one other Aggie would move into scoring position the remainder of the game.

Charleston took the lead for good in the third inning off a two-run homer by Chaz Davey. The Cougars added to their lead in the fourth when Cross Holfert opened the inning with a solo home run. An RBI sac fly later in the inning added another run for the Cougars.

The Aggies will try to get swinging Saturday when they face the Cougars for the second game of the three-game series at noon.
