YOUR NORTH CAROLINA A&T AGGIES: North Carolina A&T returns to South Carolina for the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., Sept. 13-14.

The Aggies start the tournament with two matches on Friday as they face Wofford at 10 a.m., followed by Gardner-Webb at 4 p.m. They close the tournament with a single match Saturday against Alabama A&M at 9 a.m.

N.C. A&T is coming off a tough 3-0 (14-25,19-25,27-29) loss at Charleston Southern Tuesday night.  Both setters nearly recorded a double-double as junior Edie Brewer led the team with nine kills and 15 assists, while freshman Addy Warfield recorded 11 assists and nine digs.

For the season, junior outside hitter Courteney Pitt leads the team with 2.91 kills per set and averages 2.18 digs. Brewer leads the team with 4.86 assists per set and averages 2.50 kills and 2.14 digs. Sophomore libero Andrea Laboy-Rivera leads the team with 3.75 digs per set.

The Wofford Terriers: The Terriers started the season 0-6 but defeated Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponent North Carolina Central 3-0 the last time out.  Wofford defeated Presbyterian Wednesday night ahead of hosting their tournament. Riley Coonan and Catie Cronister led the Terriers with 11 kills apiece in the win. The Terriers are led by Catie Cronister with 2.88 kills per set, Robyn Krause with 5.93 assists per set and Emily Durham with 3.59 digs per set.

The Gardner-Webb Bulldogs:  Gardner-Webb also started the season winless going 0-5, but won 3-0 the last time out against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Bulldogs are led by Elizabeth Griffith with 2.12 kills per set, Lauryn Rocassin with 4.00 assists per set and Charissa Coleman with 3.21 digs per set.

The Alabama A&M Bulldogs: The Bulldogs started 3-0 against MEAC teams but has gone 0-4 since.  AAUM is led by Alena Cox and Maya Evans with 2.40 kills per set each. Megan Evans averages 7.87 assists per set and Maci Battle produces 3.50 digs per set.

Career Watch: Brewer is looking to enter the top-five in school history in career assists this weekend.  Currently, the West Chester, Ohio native has 1,341 assists and needs 25 assists to move into fifth place.  Michelle Spottiswood holds fifth place with 1,365 assists from 1995-96.

Up Next: The Aggies return to North Carolina for the home opener against USC Upstate Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Moore Gymnasium before heading to the coast for the UNCW Hampton Inn Invitational.  N.C. A&T faces Western Carolina Friday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m., Drake Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. and UNC Wilmington Saturday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.
