EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T men’s and women’s cross country teams look to improve in their second meet of the season in Cary, N.C. for the Adidas XC Challenge Friday at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course.
The men will be running a 6k at 6 p.m. while the women’s 5k race is scheduled for 6:25 p.m.
Nine Division I schools will be competing on the men’s side. They include Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Davidson, Gardner-Webb, Michigan, N.C. Central, N.C. State, UNC Greensboro and UNC Wilmington.
Ten schools are competing on the women’s side with the same nine as the men with the University of South Carolina included.
In the season opener at Elon University, sophomore Regan Kimtai led the Aggies with a 15th-place finish in the 6k event where he ran an 18:51.0. Freshman Devon Williams and sophomore Morris Kimble also finished in the top-50.
On the women’s side, junior Racheal Kosgei led the Aggies with a 50th place finish with a 4k time of 16:10.4. Senior G’Jasmyne Butler finished closely behind with a time of 16:19.4. Sophomore Shalah Means finished in 55th place in 16:28.5.
The Aggies return a week later for the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational at Hagan Stone Park Saturday, Sept. 28.
