Softball Signs Nine In 2015 Class

GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T head softball coach Kenya Peters announced the signing of nine players to her 2015 recruiting class on Tuesday.

The Aggies welcome Shi-Anne Campbell (5-6, P/2B, Falls Church, Va.), Zadia Davis (5-6, OF, Florence, S.C.), Lauren Dunlow (5-7, 2B/OF, Windsor, N.C.), Kameron Graham (5-9, 3B, Northridge, Calif.), Mohagony Headen (5-10, P/INF, Greensboro, N.C.), Taylor Martin (5-5, UTIL, High Point, N.C.), Alexandria Simmons (5-10, INF, Wilmington, N.C.), Lorrin Turner (5-8, C, Upper Marlboro, Md.), and Zadaisha Young-Waddell (5-8, P/INF, Troy, N.C.).

“All of these athletes have either led their team to a championship or put them in a position to win one,” Peters stated. “They are all intense competitors that will help build a winning tradition here at North Carolina A&T State University. Each of these athletes will arrive ready to win a starting position and will make an immediate impact on our program.”

The Aggies finished last season with an overall record of 15-31 and advanced to the second round of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) tournament for the first time in three seasons and first under Peters.

About the 2015 recruiting class:

Shi-Anne Campbell: Played four years of varsity softball at T.C. Williams and J.E.B. Stuart High School … Earned MVP honors as a freshman, junior, and senior … Named a first team all-conference selection as a senior and second team all-conference pick as a junior.

Coaches Corner: Is a versatile player that can pitch, play infield or outfield.

Zadia Davis: Two-sport athlete at West Florence High School where she played softball and basketball …Played three years of varsity softball where she was an All-Region selection in 2015 … Received the “Hustle Award” in basketball…Member of the National Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Coaches Corner: Has good range in the outfield and tremendous speed.  

Lauren Dunlow: Played softball, basketball, and tennis at Bertie STEM High School and Bertie Early College High School … Played four seasons of varsity softball where she was the team’s MVP and an all-conference pick as a senior … Named best offensive player her junior season … Also a two-time MVP and all-conference selection in tennis.

Coaches Corner: Plays both second base and outfield. She is a very versatile player with good skills and a hard worker.

Kameron Graham: Played on the varsity team at Northridge Academy High School for four seasons … Was a four-time First City All-League honoree …Three-time All-City selection … Two-time CIF City finalist … 2015 CIF City Champion and member of the L.A. City Senior All-Star team.

Coaches Corner: Has very good power and can play both corners. 

Mohagony Headen: Four year varsity member of the Southern Guilford High School softball team …Also played basketball and volleyball … Four-time all-conference pick in softball … Two-time all-state and all-district pick as a junior and senior… Received a volleyball all-conference honorable mention award during her senior season.

Coaches Corner: Is an outstanding pitcher. She will make an immediate impact for the Aggies.  Has a chance of being a dominate force in the circle.

Taylor Martin: Played four seasons of varsity softball at High Point Central … Named an all-conference selection in 2015 …Graduated with a 4.25 GPA.

Coaches Corner: Very determined young lady that will work hard. Is a great student and will develop into a good college player.

Alexandria Simmons: Played four years of varsity softball at New Hanover High School … Two-time all-state and all-conference selection.

Coaches Corner: Very competitive athlete who can play in the infield.

Lorrin Turner:  Played four seasons of varsity softball at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School … Named Princess George County Player of the Year … Batted .692 with no strikeouts and tallied a .765 on base percentage as a senior … Also played soccer.

Coaches Corner: An outstanding young catcher with good skills.

Zadaisha Young-Waddell: Spent four years on the varsity softball team at West Montgomery …Named Player of the Year and received MVP honors … Two-time Player of the Year in volleyball.

Coaches Corner: Is an outstanding pitcher. She will make an immediate impact for the Aggies.  Has a chance of being a dominate force in the circle.
