GREENSBORO (August 31, 2017) – The North Carolina A&T men’s basketball released its 2017-18 schedule on Monday. Before the rigorous Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule begins, the Aggies non-conference slate includes two ACC foes, Big East school Georgetown, four home games over the first two months of the season and a trip to Las Vegas.

“I think we have been able to put together a non-conference schedule where we are going to be able to play in some competitive ballgames and have a legitimate shot to win,” said third-year head coach Jay Joyner. “We have some teams on there who are going to prepare us for the type of competition we will see in the MEAC. Then there are some teams who are going to test our resolve when you talk about Clemson, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, ECU and Southern Illinois.”

The 2017-18 season begins again with fellow Greensboro school, Division III Greensboro College on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., in the newly remodeled Corbett Sports Center. It will mark the fourth time in five seasons the Aggies have started the season at home against The Pride.

After their season opener, the Aggies will quickly board the bus for Clemson, S.C. to take on the Clemson Tigers on Nov. 12. The Aggies return home for a 7 p.m., Wednesday contest against The Citadel on Nov. 15. A rematch against Jacksonville is next on Dec. 18. The Dolphins defeated the Aggies in Corbett last season. N.C. A&T returns home again on Nov. 21 as they take on Mid-Atlantic Christian, a small school out of Elizabeth City, N.C., at 7 p.m.

N.C. A&T then hits the road for four straight games, at ECU (Nov. 26), at Central Connecticut State (Nov. 30), at Presbyterian College (Dec. 2) and at Georgetown (Dec. 9). The Aggies come home to face fellow HBCU Tennessee State on Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. The Las Vegas Classic starts out with two road games, at Duquesne (Dec. 17) and at Southern Illinois (Dec. 19).

Joyner will then take his team to Las Vegas to face Radford on Dec. 22 at noon before playing either UC Davis or Lamar on Dec. 23 at 2:30 p.m. The calendar year will close out with the Aggies playing at Virginia Tech on Dec. 28. The conference season starts with a home game against Norfolk State on Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.

“We need to take care of home early, so we can establish a homecourt advantage,” said Joyner. “We also need to win some of those games against teams who were close to us in RPI last season. How we play in those contests will tell me a lot about how close we are to being where we need to be going into conference play.”
