 Keenan Smith

Outstanding athlete who can compete in several different events…During indoor seasons, he has competed in the 300, 400 and 60 meters while also competing in the long and triple jumps…As an outdoor athlete, he has competed in relays such as the 1600 and 400 meter relays…Has also competed in the long and triple jumps and the 200 and 400 meters during the outdoor season…He is a two-time MEAC outdoor champion in the triple jump and a three-time NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round qualifier in the triple jump…In addition to his two outdoor triple jump conference titles, he is also a second-team (2013) and third-team (2012) All-MEAC performer in the indoor triple jump and a third-team all-conference performer in the 400 meter relay…Holds a personal best 35.43 in the 300 meters, a 7.08 in the 60 meters, a 22.72 in the 200, a 35.43 in the 300, a 48.92 in the 400, a 23-foot, 2-inch mark in the long jump and a 51-foot, 7 ¼ inch leap in the triple jump.

2013-14 Indoor Season: Competed in six indoor meets…Placed third in the long jump (23-feet, 2 inches) and first in the triple jump (50-feet, 1.25 inches) at the Wake Forest Invitational on Jan. 11… Placed first in the triple jump at the Gene Anderson Invitational at 49-feet, 7 inches on Jan. 17… Finished third in the 400 at the UNCG Spartans Team Challenge at 51.80 on Jan. 26… Earned second-team All-MEAC honors by placing  second at the MEAC indoor championships in the triple jump at 50-feet, 2 ¾ inches.

2014 Outdoor Season: Competed in eight outdoor meets… Placed second in the triple jump at 50-feet, 2 ½ inches at the Raleigh Relays… Had another second-place finish in the triple jump at the Aggie Invitational with a jump of 48-feet, 1 ¾ inches… Placed first in the long jump at 22-feet, 8 inches at the same meet… Was named the MEAC outdoor triple jump champion for the second straight season as he jumped 50-feet, 5 ¼  inches to claim the title in 2014… Placed fourth in the long jump at 23-feet, 6 inches at the Aggie Last Chance meet… Jumped a personal best of 51-feet, 7 ¼ inches with a third place finish at the Georgia Tech Invitational… Qualified for the NCAA East meet in the triple jump where he placed 13th.

2012-13 Indoor: Competed in six indoor meets during his sophomore season…Competed in four different events at the 2012 JDLCollege Kick-Off Classic, including the 300 meters, the triple jump, the 60 meters and the triple jump…Placed fourth in the 300 with a time of 35.63 and had a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22-feet, 11-inches…Competed in three events at the Virginia Tech Invitational, including the 300 meters, 4x400 meters and triple jump…Placed second in the triple jump with a 48-foot, 6 ¾ inch jump, placed fourth in the 300 in 35.43 and his 4x4 team finished fifth in 3:16.92…His 4x4 team placed second at the Penn State National Invitational in 3:15.90…The 4x4 team won the Hilton Garden Invitational with a time of 3:19.31…Also won the triple jump at the HGI with his best jump recorded at 49-feet, 9-inches…Scored 12 points at the 2013 MEAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in Landover, Md…His 4x4 team finished fifth (3:20.67), while he had a third-place finish in the triple jump (48-feet, 4 ¾ inches) and a fourth-place finish in the long jump (22-feet, 7 ¼ inches).

2013 Outdoor: Competed in eight outdoor meets as a sophomore…Competed in four events at the 2013 Shamrock Invitational XVII with his best finish coming in the triple jump where his best leap was marked at 49-feet, 9 ¾ inches…Was one-fourth of the 4x200 meter relay team that finished second in 1:23.41 at the 2013 41st Robert “Jet” Johnson Bulldog Relay…Won the triple jump at the 2013 N.C. A&T Aggie Invitational with a mark of 50-feet, 11-inches…Was one-fourth of the 4x100 meter relay team along with Marquis Nobles, Desmond Lawrence and Jeffrey Lewis that advanced to the Championship of Americas final by running a 40.74 in the preliminary round at the prestigious Penn Relays…Won the MEAC championship in the triple jump in 2013 with a personal-best 51-feet, 2 ¾ inches…Also earned third-team all-conference honors in the 4x1 by finishing third with his teammates recording a 41.37…Competed in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round for the second time in his career in the triple jump as he leaped 48-feet, 3 ¼ inches.

2011-12 Indoor: Competed in five indoor meets as a jumper his freshman season…Placed third in the 2012 New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York with a 48-foot, 8-inch jump in the triple jump…Placed sixth in the 2012 MEAC Track and Field Indoor Championships in Landover, Md., with a season-best jump 48-feet, 9-inches.

2012 Outdoor: Competed in nine outdoor meets as a jumper his freshman season, including an appearance in the 2012 NCAA East Division I Preliminary Round…Placed fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 46-feet, 5 ¼ inches at the 2012 South Carolina Weems Baskin Invitational…Jumped 46-feet, 2 ½ inches at the 2012 Norfolk State University Relays in the triple jump for a fourth-place finish…Placed third at the International Freedom and Friendship Games hosted by A&T with a season-best triple jump of 50-feet, 7 ½ inches…Placed fifth in the long jump at the 2012 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with season-best leap of 22-feet, 7-inches…At the same meet, finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 48-feet, 10-inches...At the NCAA East meet, he jumped 46-feet, 6 ¾ inches.

High School: Attended Western Branch High School and competed four years at the varsity level under coach Claude Toukene…Earned 2010 all-district, all- regional and All-State in the triple jump…Was ranked No.5 in the U.S. in the triple jump in 2010…Was a state runner up in the triple jump.

Personal: Full name is Keenan Smith…He is the son of Rickey and Veronica Robinson…He was born on May 19, 1992 with twin brother and A&T track & field teammate Kendrick Smith…His major is liberal studies…Plans to compete in the 2016 World Championships and Olympics after graduation…Also enjoys filmmaking.
