21 Tony McRae

Has played a significant role for the Aggies as a backup defensive back and a special teams superstar over the first two years of his career…He is an excellent athlete who should step into a starting role at cornerback during the 2014 season…His athleticism has also made him a superb kickoff returner for the Aggies…Lowered his 40-yard dash time from 4.41 in the spring of 2013 to 4.37 in the spring of 2014…Also improved his broad jump from 10-feet, 3 ½ inches to 10-feet, 7-inches…Comes from a strong high school program in Scotland County High School…Has played in 22 games with four starts…Has made 25 solo tackles and 11 assisted tackles with seven passes defended…Has also returned 27 kicks for 635 yards (23.5 per return) and a touchdown…Can bench press 225 a total of 13 times and has a broad jump of 33 ½ inches.

2013 Season: Played in 11 games with one start…Made 11 solo tackles and two assisted tackles…Made one interception and had two pass breakups for three passes defended on the season…Also returned 18 kickoffs for 446 and a touchdown…Made four solo and a pass breakup in the Aggies 24-21 upset win over Appalachian State on Sept. 7…In the same game, he also returned a kickoff 91 yards in the first quarter to tie the game at 7…Returned a kickoff 55 yards against Elon on Sept. 14 to set up a 38-yard field goal by Cody Jones that gave A&T a 16-3 to open the third quarter.

2012 Season: Played in 11 games with three starts…Made 14 solo and nine assisted tackles for a total of 23…Also had four passes defended and a recovered fumble…Made three starts at left cornerback to replace Ayodeji Olatoye who had to play free safety in place of an injured Isaiah Martin…Ranked fourth among Aggie defensive backs in tackles during the season…Made his first career start at Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 6…Broke up two passes in the Aggies’ 38-10 win over Howard on Oct. 13…Made five tackles, all assisted, and had one pass breakup in the Aggies 24-12 loss…Also had a start against Florida A&M on Nov. 3, where he made six tackles, all solo, in the Aggies’ 16-3 win.

High School: Led his team to a 15-0 record and a No. 1 ranking in the state (N.C.) and the Class 4A Championship title...McRae ran for 96 yards and three touchdowns in the title game against New Bern High School....Earned honorable mention all-conference honors...Named to the 2011 All-Cape Fear Region team by the Fayetteville Observer.
