News & Notes vs. WVSU
MVP: With the understanding that West Virginia State is not the best competition the Aggies will face this season, the Aggies running game looked most valuable. It appears the Aggies have a pretty effective three-man rotation in the backfield with senior Mike Mayhew and juniors Dominique Drake and Ricky Lewis. The three men combined for 231 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Lewis led the way Saturday with 95 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
X-Factor: West Virginia State turned the ball over five times, had one punt blocked and had a bad snap on another punt. All of those errors led to 35 A&T points.
Defining Moment: During his postgame press conference, A&T head coach Rod Broadway said one of the officials relayed a message to him from the Yellow Jackets coaching staff. Essentially, the message was don't treat us like victims. With more than 14 minutes remaining in the game, the Aggies started taking a knee inside the WVSU 5-yard line. It was a sign of just how badly the Aggies dominated the Yellow Jackets on Saturday. In the fourth quarter, the Aggies took a knee 10 times.
