HAMDEN, Conn. –  The North Carolina A&T women’s basketball team fell short 77-63 to Quinnipiac University in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), Friday evening at Quinnipiac.

Senior Tracy King was the leading scorer for the Aggies with 14points on 6-for-10 shooting. She added six rebounds to her totals.  Junior Adriana Nazario put up 12 points and dished out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.

“The fact that we lost by 14 and missed 16 free throws, and we outscored them in the second half, are things we want to walk away from saying that we can play at this level with a team like Quinnipiac,” says head coach Tarrell Robinson. “It was a great experience for our team and we will bounce back from this.”

The Aggies put up a good fight against the Bobcats offense which made 13 of 26 3-pointers.  Junior Ariel Bursey and redshirt sophomore added eight points each.

The Aggies will head back to Greensboro, N.C.,  Saturday morning to start preparing for their next game in the preseason WNIT. The team that we will be playing will be announced Sunday.
