BUIES CREEK-The North Carolina swimming team took on Campbell University and Catawba College at the Johnson Aquatic Center on Friday evening, and fell to the Camels by 180-55 and to the Indians by 164-74.

The 13-event meet featured 50-yard and 100-yard individual events, allowing the Aggies to show their sprinting capabilities.

"It was challenging for the freshmen to adjust to swimming sprints back to back," said A&T head coach Shawn Hendrix. "However, we did improve on focusing on small techniques and setting a faster tempo for our 200 and 100-yard swims tomorrow."

The Aggies, who lost a close meet to Radford last Friday, had two Top-3 finishes in individual events, as senior Lauren Bowling won first place with a 27.20 time in the 50-yard butterfly and placed third in the 100 butterfly with a 1:02.31 time.  The A&T relay team made up of freshmen Niya Ross and Victoria Orr, junior Christian Hill and sophomore Danielle Jackson took third in the 200 free relay in 1:53.07.

A trio of Aggies set career times.  Junior Sarah Simmons set a career high with a 42.94 finish in the 50 backstroke, shaving nearly three seconds off her previous best.   Junior LaBraya Milton also posted a career-best by finishing the 50 breaststroke in 39.35 time for eighth place.  Junior Aarin Miles set a career-best with a 2:56.11 time for eighth place in the 200 IM.  It was the second straight meet that Simmons, Milton, and Miles posted a new career best in an individual event.

"Aarin had a great 200 IM, and Lauren had her best 50 fly," Hendrix said.

The Aggies started off the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, clocking in at 4:33.20.  Orr placed fifth in the 50 backstroke with a 30.86 time.  Freshman Kenya Dunn swam the 500- yard free in 5:55.87 for fifth place.

The Aggies return to the pool at the Johnson Aquatic Center on Saturday, facing off against North Florida and Campbell starting at 10 a.m.
