DAVIDSON - The North Carolina A&T swimming team capped off the 2012-13 regular season with a good showing in the CCSA Duals Davidson Invitational at Charles A. Cannon Pool on Saturday.
The Aggies lost to their five opponents - Davidson (254-34), Georgia Southern (254-34), Howard (162-82), Liberty (216-37) and Radford (216-61) - but had a number of Top 20 finishes.
The A&T freshman class in particular had a strong day, as an Aggie freshman posted the top time for A&T in eight of the 10 individual events. Niya Ross swam a 2:09.41 for 16th place in the 200 free, and recorded a 5:57.60 finish in the 500 free for 16th place. Miranda Jacobs also placed 16th in the 100 back by touching the wall in 1:08.14, and turned in a 2:29.98 performance in the 200 back for 14th place. Jade Hill was 14th place in the 100 breast with a 1:14.28.
Kenya Dunn had the best 50 free (26.56) and best 100 free (59.24) finishes for A&T on Saturday. In the 200 IM, Victoria Orr came in 16th place with a 2:36.43 time, just two seconds faster than Ross. sophomore Danielle Jackson clocked in at 2:52.41 in the 200 breast for 14th place. Junior Courtney Jefferson set a new career-best with a 28.54 finish in the 50 free and a 2:24.24 time in the 200 free.
The Aggies will compete in the CCSA Championships from Feb. 21-23 in Athens, Ga.
