ATHENS, Ga.-North Carolina A&T swimming head coach Shawn Hendrix predicted that a school record would fall on Friday in the second day of competition at the CCSA Championships.

"We are swimming well and should break the 800 free relay school record tonight," she said in the afternoon.

A few hours later, freshman Niya Ross, sophomore Danielle Jackson, and juniors Erika Eisenman and Christian Hill combined to set a new school record in that event with an 8:49.40 time for 13th place at the Gabrielson Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.

The Aggies also turned in a number of personal career-bests and several season-best performances on Friday.

In the 400 IM preliminary race, freshman Victoria Orr touched the wall in 5:22.95.  It was her second fastest time in that event this season, and the fourth best time in program history.

In the 100 fly preliminary race, senior Lauren Bowling missed matching her school record by .45 seconds.  She finished the event in 1:00.73 for 37th place.  It was a strong finish for Bowling in that event, as it shaved three seconds off her 100 fly time at Davidson Invitational.  Freshman Niya Ross swam the 100 fly in a season-best 1:02.28, shaving more than four seconds off her previous best time.   Freshman Jade Hill clocked in at 1:06.51, while freshman Miranda Jacobs finished the event in a season-best 1:07.75.

In the 200 free preliminary, Ross posted the best finish among A&T swimmers, with a 2:06.92 time for 43rd place.  Junior Christian Hill came in with a 2:11.14 time, while freshman Kenya Dunn was just behind her with a 2:11.71 finish.  Junior Courtney Jefferson finished the race in a career-best 2:21.44.  It was the second straight day in which she set a career-best, after swimming the 50 free in 27.74 on Thursday.

In the 100 breast preliminary, sophomore Danielle Jackson had the best performance for A&T, clocking in at 1:11.06, a new career-best time, for 27th place.  That was also the fastest time in that event by an Aggie this season.  Jade Hill finished in 1:13.42, while Orr posted a season-best 1:14.13 time.  Miles finished the race in a career-best 1:19.14, while Milton finished in a career-best 1:29.87.

In the 100 back preliminary, Jacobs finished in 43rd place with an individual and team season-best 1:05.10 time.  Bowling was just seconds behind her with 1:07.00 finish in the race, setting a new career-best time.  Christian Hill clocked in at 1:11.19, while Sarah Simmons finished the race in 1:33.07.

The 'A' team of freshman Miranda Jacobs, sophomore Danielle Jackson, senior Lauren Bowling and freshman Kenya Dunn finished 11th in the 200 medley relay in 1:55.05, the best time in that event this season by a relay team.

The final day of the Championships will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m.  The Aggies will compete in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and 400 free relay events.
