RADFORD, Va. – The North Carolina A&T women’s swimming team faced a tough opening night of competition at the Highlander Invitational hosted by Radford University.
Saturday, the women finished in the sixth place with 137 points total. Campbell University won the invitational with a total of 1051.5 points and Mount Saint Mary’s took second with 704 points.
Carrington placed 13th in the 200-yard fly with a finishing time of 2:42.14.
Friday, the Aggies finished in the sixth place with a total of 109 points after competing in 12 events.
Campbell remained in the first place with a total of 716 points. Mount Saint Mary’s was in second (479), followed by Radford was (454), UNC Asheville (328) and Millersville (272).
The 800-yard free relay team (Carrington, Ross, Crable, and Christian Hill) finished 10th place with a time of 8:46.29.
Jackson placed 11th in the 100-yard breast with a time of 1:12.07. Victoria Orr finished 12th in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:17.53.
On Thursday, the 400-yard medley team (Miranda Jacobs, Danielle Jackson, Niya Ross, and Dominique Crable) finished eighth with a time of 4:21.71.
Aarica Carrington, Crable, Kenya Dunn, Jacobs clocked a time of 1:43.30 in the 200-yard free relay.
The Aggies finished the evening in sixth place with 62 points after competing in two of Thursday’s five events.
The next meet for the Aggies will be in Radford, Va., to compete against Radford Jan. 24 at 5pm.
