UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Redshirt senior Darryl Williams fought his way through a tough field of 60 meter runners to finish second in the finals at the 2013 Penn State Indoor National Invitational at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track and Field facility.

"He went up against an elite athlete," said Duane Ross, the Aggies director of track and field programs. "He was encouraging to see him run so well and to have the best collegiate time."

Williams finished second to Reggie Dixon with a personal-best 6.76. Dixon, a former Hampton University standout from 2008-12, finished in 6.70 for first place as an unattached athlete. Williams had the best time among NCAA college athletes. Williams previous best time was 6.86 ran at the 2011 Virginia Tech Invitational.

Williams started the day by qualifying for the 60 meter semifinals in 6.88. His semifinal time was 6.81, setting up his superb final.

On the women's side, Jessica Farr qualified for the semifinals of the 60 meters before being eliminated for the finals. Senior Jenea McCammon qualified for 60 meter hurdles, but missed making the finals by eight-tenths of a second.

The Aggies will continue to compete at Penn State on Saturday.
